Summary:
The role of the Planning Manager is essential in driving materials planning and production planning activities within the organization. Responsibilities:
- Provide leadership, coaching, and guidance to the Planning team.
- Develop production plans in alignment with sales order demand and forecasts.
- Strategically plan material requirements and coordinate production activities across multiple sites.
- Assess production needs based on plant capacity and market demand.
- Establish clear planning methodologies to ensure comprehensive coverage.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to anticipate, mitigate, and prevent delivery disruptions to customers.
- Lead weekly operations planning meetings, presenting KPI reports on planning and manufacturing adherence.
- Oversee forecast management and collaborate with Operations to devise capacity requirement plans.
- Contribute to enhancing the ERP system for improved efficiency.
- Take charge of the Sales and Operations Planning (S&OP) process, leveraging outcomes to establish production schedules and material needs.
- Champion cost-effective and efficient production through the application of lean manufacturing principles.
- Coordinate with Purchasing and Operations teams to fulfill customer lead time requests effectively.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Establish and oversee individual KPIs for the planning team.
- Provide training and mentorship to Planners on maximizing the ERP system's potential.
- Conduct annual performance evaluations for Planners.
- Take an active role in leading, participating, and engaging in initiatives and projects aimed at enhancing KPIs, problem-solving frameworks, culture, and employee retention.
- Offer recommendations for enhancing safety protocols, production methodologies, equipment efficiency, and overall quality standards.
Qualifications:
- Demonstrated 3+ years of managerial or supervisory experience within mid to large-scale manufacturing settings.
- Possess 5+ years of hands-on involvement in capacity planning utilizing contemporary ERP systems, preferably with proficiency in Microsoft Dynamics AX or D365.
- Proficiency in Microsoft applications, with advanced expertise in Excel spreadsheet functionalities.
- Exceptional communication skills, capable of transparently addressing complex and challenging topics persuasively.
- Exhibit robust independent organizational abilities, coupled with analytical prowess, meticulous planning skills, and adept project management capabilities.
- Ability to translate raw data into actionable insights effectively.
- Self-motivated with a knack for articulating findings, offering recommendations, and facilitating transformative change initiatives.
- A Bachelor's degree in supply chain, APICS/CPIM certification, Business Management, Logistics, or a related field, or an equivalent blend of educational background and practical experience.
