Job Summary:
As the Head of Customs, you will play a pivotal role in managing and optimising our customs and trade compliance processes in Basel, Switzerland. You will be responsible for ensuring seamless cross-border movements, compliance with international trade regulations, and fostering effective relationships with customs authorities. This role requires a strategic thinker with a deep understanding of customs procedures, regulations, and a proven track record in driving operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
Customs Compliance:
- Ensure adherence to Swiss and international customs regulations.
- Develop and implement strategies to maintain compliance with evolving customs laws and trade regulations.
- Conduct regular audits to assess compliance levels and address any identified issues.
Strategic Leadership:
- Develop and execute a comprehensive customs strategy aligned with business goals.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate customs considerations into overall business planning.
- Provide leadership and guidance to the customs team, fostering a culture of compliance and continuous improvement.
Relationship Management:
- Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with Swiss customs authorities and relevant regulatory bodies.
- Liaise with government agencies and industry associations to stay abreast of regulatory changes and represent the company's interests.
Process Optimisation:
- Identify opportunities for process improvement and automation within the customs and trade compliance functions.
- Implement best practices to streamline customs clearance and logistics processes, reducing lead times and costs.
Risk Management:

- Develop and implement risk mitigation strategies to minimise potential disruptions to supply chains.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in customs and trade compliance, with a focus on strategic leadership.
- In-depth knowledge of Swiss and international customs regulations and procedures.
- Proven experience in managing relationships with customs authorities and government agencies.
