TITLE: Application Development/Technical Service Engineer
LOCATION: Remote + up to 50% travel to Michigan and Ohio customer facilities
POSITION SUMMARY
A global compounder of custom-engineered thermoplastics is looking for a skilled Application Development/Technical Service Engineer to join the team. The company develops customized thermoplastic compounds in more than 60 different engineering resin systems, serving a diverse range of markets, including automotive, electronics, energy, industrial, and healthcare. This dual role involves both technical and customer-facing responsibilities, reporting to the Global Technology Manager and receiving direction and coordination from sales management. The team is seeking candidates interested in joining a dynamic and collaborative culture, eager to expand their technical and communication skillsets.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Application Development Engineer
- Execute trials for plastic processing on new product formulations at customer sites, in both production and laboratory environments
- Resolve material-related issues through effective troubleshooting
- Develop practical solutions to address processing challenges
- Oversee plastic conversion processes, primarily focusing on injection molding, but also encompassing sheet, film, and profile extrusion
Technical Service Engineer
- Deliver technical support for products to customers
- Participate in customer meetings to collect information for new project applications
- Provide presentations on product information for both new and existing products
- Facilitate the exchange of technical information between customers and internal technical departments
REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in Plastic Materials, Chemical, Mechanical, or other related engineering disciplines
- 10+ years of experience in injection molding process and tooling
- Strong knowledge of plastic materials and compounds
- Excellent interpersonal skills, analytical skills, and problem-solving
