Summary of the Director of Transportation Position:
DSJ Global is currently partnered with an Industry Leading Organization in Long Beach, California that is looking for a dynamic leader to grow their Transportation Sector. This individual should be well versed in trucking operations, port operations, drayage, and inter-modal transportation.
Director of Transportation Responsibilities:
- Strategic planning and assessment of departmental functions and roles to enhance efficiency's and capitalize on opportunities in line with the company's growth.
- Facilitating communication between customers, dispatchers, and drivers, with a keen focus on optimizing driver performance and ensuring the company's financial health, as reflected in the profit/loss income statement.
- Trains, manages, and provides oversight of 24/5/365 operation in a dynamic routing environment.
- Hands-on experience in new equipment specification and purchase, including trucks, chassis, and material handling equipment (MHE).
- Responsible for maintenance, safety, and department performance to SLA.
Qualifications for the Director of Transportation:
- Bachelor's Degree ~ Preferred
- Extensive experience in Transportation Management / Trucking Operations within an asset-based carrier or Third-Party Logistics, with a minimum of 5 years.
- Profound understanding of LA/LB Port Operations.
- In-depth knowledge of CFR-49, Hours of Service, and DOT Regulations.
- Proven track record in workforce management, ensuring compliance with procedures and timely resolution of issues.
- Responsibilities for Maintenance and Insurance oversight.
- Applied technology proficiency, including dispatch software, Profit Tools, Forward Thinking, and GPS systems.
