Opportunity: Category Manager (CAPEX)

Our client, a global leader in the mining sector, is looking for a dynamic and experienced Category Manager to join their team. As a Category Manager, you will play a crucial role in optimizing CAPEX procurement processes and driving strategic initiatives.
Responsibilities:
- Category Strategy Development: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define and execute category strategies for CAPEX spend. Identify cost-saving opportunities, risk mitigation measures, and supplier performance improvements.
- Supplier Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers. Negotiate contracts, manage performance, and ensure compliance.
- Market Intelligence: Stay abreast of industry trends, market dynamics, and emerging technologies related to CAPEX categories. Leverage this knowledge to inform sourcing decisions.
- Sourcing and Procurement: Lead end-to-end sourcing activities, including RFPs, RFQs, and supplier evaluations. Drive competitive bidding processes and evaluate proposals.
- Contract Management: Review and negotiate contracts. Ensure alignment with legal and compliance requirements.
- Cost Optimization: Identify opportunities to optimize costs while maintaining quality and reliability. Implement cost reduction initiatives.
- Risk Management: Assess and mitigate risks associated with CAPEX procurement. Develop contingency plans.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including engineering, finance, and project management teams. Understand their requirements and align procurement strategies accordingly.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or related field.
- Minimum 7 years of experience in strategic sourcing and category management, specifically within CAPEX categories (Capital Equipment, Construction, Engineering Services)
- Strong negotiation skills and a proven track record of achieving cost savings.
- Proficiency in contract negotiation and management.
- Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret data and make informed decisions.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
