A leading Apparel Organization is seeking a Technical Designer to take product ideas from concept through to production. The position is in-person at the company's headquarters, where the individual will play a key role in developing high-quality performance products. The ideal candidate should be passionate about activewear, detail-oriented, and driven to contribute to the brand's success in the market.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with Product Development, Design, and Merchandising teams to create products that meet performance, cost, and deadline expectations.
- Develop and update technical specification packs to clearly convey fit and construction details to vendors.
- Coordinate with the Product Development team to manage workload, meet deadlines, and communicate effectively with vendors to enhance design workflows.
- Lead fit sessions with live models, including working with size sets to ensure proper garment fit.
- Identify fit and construction issues, recommend and implement adjustments, and communicate the changes necessary to improve fit and functionality.
- Track and manage the status of prototype samples and maintain an organized sample library.
- Support the Senior Technical Designer in ensuring consistency in fit and grading across all product lines.
- Stay current on industry trends in fit, fabric technology, and product innovation.
- Contribute to additional projects as needed to support team and company goals.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in apparel design, textile science, or a related field.
- At least 4 years of experience in technical design or product development within the apparel industry.
- Proficient in Adobe Illustrator, Excel, and a PLM system; knowledge of 2D/3D patternmaking software (such as Gerber, Optitex, Clo, or Browzwear PDS) is a plus.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for interacting with internal teams and external vendors.
- Ability to effectively manage multiple projects and timelines.
- Experience in patternmaking, with a deep understanding of garment construction and manufacturing processes.
- Team-oriented with a collaborative mindset and the flexibility to take on tasks of all sizes.
