Position Summary:
The Head of Quality Management will oversee and manage the quality control and assurance programs at our facility, ensuring adherence to internal, client, and regulatory standards. This role involves auditing and inspecting all aspects of quality performance, including raw materials, production processes, packaging, distribution, and adherence to HACCP, GMP's, and other relevant standards.
The individual must possess comprehensive knowledge of food production, processes, and procedures, as well as a deep understanding of microbiology and raw material programs. This knowledge is essential for making appropriate decisions in a dynamic environment. The ability to demonstrate leadership skills, support existing programs, and develop new ones is crucial.
Key Responsibilities:
- Implement QC policies, procedures, and directives, ensuring compliance with internal, client, and regulatory expectations.
- Oversee the facility's SQF certification program.
- Conduct client audits and annual SQF audits.
- Develop and maintain the HACCP plan and educate facility personnel on quality programs.
- Communicate with regulatory bodies regarding inspections.
- Develop and maintain quality control systems/programs.
- Conduct pre-shipment reviews, validation studies, and report on deficiencies.
- Perform microbiological tests on finished products and various surfaces.
- Apply total quality management tools and approaches to analytical and reporting processes.
- Direct inspection and testing activities to ensure continuous control over materials, facilities, and products.
- Investigate and respond to client complaints, implementing changes if necessary.
- Collaborate with facility and sanitation managers to ensure proper maintenance of the facility, equipment, and grounds.
- Work with suppliers to ensure the quality of all purchased products, equipment, and materials.
Qualifications:
- Proficiency in computer skills, analytical thinking, and understanding of food-processing equipment.
- Knowledge of quality control processes in the food-processing industry.
- Familiarity with quality process control, HACCP, SSOP, and SOP.
- Understanding of USDA and FDA standards.
- Self-motivated, goal-oriented, and strategic thinker.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner, gather and analyse information skillfully, develop alternative solutions, and work well in group problem-solving situations.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
- At least five years of quality control experience in a food-manufacturing environment.
- HACCP Certified (preferred)
- SQF Certified (preferred)
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel
