Procurement Manager - Biotechnology Industry

Our client, a large international biotechnology organization, is looking for a strong procurement individual to join their global procurement organization in the Los Angeles area. Upon start date, this role will be remote for 3 days out of the week, and onsite 2 days per week.
The Procurement Manager - Biotechnology Industry is a senior position within the directs sourcing procurement group that will be responsible for establishing the category strategy for direct and raw materials/commodities. This role reports into the Global Supply Chain Director. Our client is open to a wide variety of commodity experience, but is looking for a strategic sourcing individual with 3-5 years of sourcing experience within the biotech/pharma industries.
The Procurement Manager - Biotechnology Industry will be responsible for:
- Driving supplier performance, risk mitigation concepts and initiatives, contract effectiveness, collaboration and integration
- Will be heavily involved in supplier relationship building, including identifying potential suppliers, visiting existing suppliers, and promoting supplier relationship management program
- Developing the organizations short and longer term vision/plan for the procurement group
- Heavily work in the ERP system used to conduct master data updates and order tracking
- Developing and implementing approved strategies that actively search for performance improvement and cost reduction opportunities by understanding stakeholder needs, supply market trends and innovation
The Procurement Manager - Biotechnology Industry has the following qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, or Engineering (required)
- 3-5 years of relevant experience within procurement
- 3+ years of experience with ERP systems (SAP preferred)
- 2+ years of biotech or pharma industry experience
- APICS certification highly preferred
