Manufacturing Engineer III.
Position Summary
Develops and improves manufacturing processes by studying product and manufacturing methods. Drives product and process changes to reduce cost and improve quality and delivery by using statistical methods and sound manufacturing principles. Acts as a subject matter expert in hydraulic assembly and test. Champions capital projects. Implements Lean and Six Sigma strategies in support of a continuous improvement culture to increase productivity.
Responsibilities

- May require the supervision of up to 4 direct reports depending on candidate
- Production Support
- Support hydraulic assembly and test with all required technical support
- Interpret and maintain manufacturing process documentation
- Evaluate and disposition non-conforming product
- Provide technical support for front end business activities
- Evaluate supplier issues and provide technical guidance
- Continual Improvement
- Promote a culture of Continual Improvement by utilizing Lean Six Sigma methodologies to drive quality improvements
- Implement Lean Manufacturing concepts to minimize waste and improve efficiency
- Perform Engineering analysis to determine Root Cause and implement Corrective Actions
- Identify new technologies to improve process capability, and increase process controls
- Product Realization
- Review engineering designs and documentation for manufacturability
- Define manufacturing processes and maintain detailed manufacturing instructions for complex hydraulic assemblies
- Design hydraulic assembly tooling & test fixtures to assembly and validate product
- Lead acquisition and implementation of capital equipment
- Implement process documentation and provide training for production personnel
Minimum Qualifications
- Master's degree in Engineering or related technical field and 10 years experience as a manufacturing engineer, OR
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related technical field and minimum 12 years experience as a manufacturing engineer OR
- Associate's degree in Engineering or related technical field plus 15 years of manufacturing engineering related experience
- In lieu of a degree, minimum of 20 years of manufacturing engineering related experience
- Experience working in Aerospace, Defense, Medical and/or other regulated industries
- Experience working in the manufacturing and test of mechanical assemblies
- Advanced ability to prepare manufacturing processes based on assembly and test requirements
- Ability to troubleshoot assembly and test failures, determining root cause and implementing corrective actions
- Green belt certification in Six Sigma and Lean Principles, or equivalent
- Understanding of test equipment, data acquisition and signal processing
- Experience in Product Realization activities taking product from design, through qualification to production
- Experience in process improvement and cost reduction initiatives
- Advanced knowledge of GD&T, schematics and relevant test and inspection equipment
- Experience working in a team setting with the ability to train and mentor other team members
- Attendance and punctuality at work are essential functions of this position
- Must be a U.S. Citizen
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in the manufacturing and test of hydraulic, pneumatic and/or fluid power systems and components
- Black belt certification in Six Sigma and Lean Principles, or equivalent
- Experience executing Capital Investment projects
- Demonstrated solid modeling proficiency
- Certification in Project Management or demonstrated ability
