Head of Purchasing - Schleiz, Germany
A Global Market Leading automotive supplier are currently hiring for a Head of Purchasing professional to be based at their plant in Schleiz, Germany, within their mechatronics and mirrors division. The Mechatronics, Mirrors & Lighting group specialises in automotive technologies that drive the future of mobility. Main responsibilities
The job holder ensures that:
- The long-term procurement of important purchasing components is carried out reliably at the lowest overall costs with defined quality requirements and deadlines.
- He/ She permanently reduces procurement costs through forward-looking, international purchasing of products and services using modern methods.
- He/ She constantly initiates internal and procurement market considerations and activities for the constant further development of the procurement situation.
- He/ She receives and improves favourable purchasing conditions for the current business by concluding framework agreements with suppliers, acquiring and integrating new development and product suppliers.
The main obligations here are:
- Material requirements planning (budgeting)
- Ongoing material consumption and cost monitoring (target/actual comparison)
- Investment and cost planning (budgeting) for the subordinate areas
- Initiation and participation in the development of cost, quality and innovation potential in the company
- Procurement market observation, bench-marking, analysis of cost reduction potential
- Ensuring the commercial and contractual processing of procurement
- Compliance with the legal characteristics as well as training and monitoring of the legal safety and environmental requirements
Key Qualifications / Central Requirements
- Commercial training, graduate (business) engineer, technical business economist or equivalent training
- Experience in a comparable, managerial position in the automotive sector and thus in-depth knowledge of modern procurement and logistics methods
- Legal knowledge/contract security
- English: Presentation skills - The employee is able to independently process difficult and extensive correspondence, carry out presentations of different levels of difficulty and follow conferences/meetings/workshops overall.
- Mastery of the software tools used in the company (usually MS Office, SAP, etc. software packages to be specified more precisely)
- Communication Skills: Must be able to deliver a speech spontaneously and freely, even in front of unfamiliar participants, make a major presentation, deliver more complex training/meetings/conferences and negotiate difficult.
- Leadership: Has experience in leading (also disciplinary) a group/team and extended project experience.
